There Has Never Been a Better Time to Be a Business Owner

By Vikas Goenka · 4 August 2026 · 9-minute read

A business owner relaxing at their desk in the evening, chai in hand, city sunset through the window — the office is quiet, the business isn't

Running a business has always meant carrying the whole company in your head. You may have a capable accounts person, a small sales team, someone doing marketing — but you're the one lying awake asking: did every enquiry get answered? Are the books actually current? Did the follow-ups go out, or did they slip again? The work gets done by many hands, and staying in control of it all stays with one person: you. The tools that promised that control were always built for big companies with big teams — and the really powerful ones came with really powerful price tags.

That just changed.

For the first time, there is a tool that is genuinely powerful, genuinely cheap, and works around the clock. It never gets bored of repetitive work. It doesn't make the 11 pm slip-ups a tired human makes. It has read more or less everything the world has ever written — and, set up right, it also knows everything happening inside your company: your price list, your pending orders, your customer history, your way of doing things.

If you've seen The Good Place, think of Janet — the assistant who is instantly available, unfailingly cheerful, and somehow knows everything. That's no longer television. A version of that is available to you today, for less than what you pay for tea and biscuits in a month.

This article is not a tutorial and not a lecture. It's a tour. I want to show you glimpses of what's already possible — in the tools your team uses, the departments you run, and the workflows that eat your day.

1. The tools you already use, on fast-forward

This is the lowest-hanging fruit: the fastest wins available today, with zero new software. The software your team already fights with every day has quietly become ten times easier to use.

Excel / Google Sheets. You know that report someone builds every month — filtering, VLOOKUP-ing, formatting, an hour gone? Describe it in plain language: "Compare this month's sales to last month by product, highlight anything that dropped more than 10%." Done in seconds, not hours.

Word. A quotation, a vendor agreement, a polite-but-firm payment reminder in English that sounds professional — first draft in under a minute, in your company's tone, ready to adjust and send.

PowerPoint. "Make me a 10-slide pitch for a distributor meeting from these notes." You spend your time improving the argument, not aligning text boxes.

Canva. Festival offer creative, product post, price-list flyer — described in a sentence, generated in your brand colours, ready before your chai gets cold.

Tally. This is the one that surprises people. Invoices arriving as PDFs and photos on email and WhatsApp can be read, extracted, and prepared as entries — so your accountant reviews and posts instead of typing. Outstanding-payment summaries, GST-ready workings, party-wise ledger questions answered in plain language.

Before and after: a messy two-hour spreadsheet grind with formulas and red cells, versus a one-line plain-language request producing a clean report in four minutes

The pattern across all of them: hours become minutes, and minutes become seconds. Not by learning new software — by talking to the software you already own.

2. Every department gets a very capable assistant

Your accounts person, your sales team, your marketing hand — each of them spends a large part of the day on work that is necessary but mechanical. AI changes what their day looks like, and what reaches your desk. (And if you're an owner who still does many of these jobs yourself — Tuesday afternoons where you are the finance department — everything below applies double.)

AI for Finance. Bank statement reconciliation drafted for review. Invoice data entered from photos. A morning summary of who owes you what, and who you've owed too long. Anomalies flagged — a duplicate payment, a rate that doesn't match the agreed one — before they become losses.

AI for Marketing. A month's social media calendar drafted in one sitting. Captions in English and Hindi (or your customers' language). Ad copy variations to test. Your product photos turned into posts. The marketing you always meant to do consistently — done consistently.

AI for Sales. Every enquiry answered in seconds, not "when I get a moment." Follow-ups drafted for the leads that went quiet. A brief before every meeting: who they are, what they asked about last time, what they bought before.

AI for Customer Service. Common questions — price, availability, delivery status, how-to — answered instantly and accurately, day and night. Complaints summarised with full history so that when a human steps in, the customer never repeats themselves.

AI for Operations & HR. Job descriptions, offer letters, shift rosters, SOPs written down at last — the paperwork of running a team, drafted in minutes.

None of this replaces your judgement, or your team's. It replaces the typing, sorting, formatting, and chasing that stood between the judgement and the outcome.

3. Workflows that run while you sleep

This is where it gets genuinely exciting. Individual tasks getting faster is nice. Entire workflows running on their own is a different life.

Most Indian small businesses run on WhatsApp — so that's where the biggest wins are:

Flow diagram: customer WhatsApp enquiry at 9:41 pm gets an instant reply with catalogue and prices, is logged in the sales tracker, a follow-up is scheduled and the salesperson alerted, and it all lands in the owner's 7:30 am morning brief

While you slept, your business answered politely, accurately, and instantly. That used to be something only companies with call centres could say.

The most important part: you are the boss

Here's the question every sensible business owner asks at this point: "What if it sends something wrong to my customer?"

It's the right question, and it has a clean answer: nothing has to go out of your company's doors without human review.

Every workflow above can be built with a human in the loop — you or your team approving messages before they're sent, entries before they're posted, posts before they're published. As trust builds, you decide what runs on its own and what waits for your nod. The dial is always in your hand.

Think of AI as a genie — enormously capable, endlessly hardworking, available at a moment's notice. But a genie serves the one holding the lamp. You set the rules, you review the work, you make the calls that matter. The AI does the drudgery; you do the deciding.

You remain the ultimate boss. You've just hired the most capable assistant in history — one who works 24/7, never takes leave, and costs less than a part-time intern.

What's possible for your business?

Everything above is real, running today, in businesses like yours — with the tools you already use: Excel, Tally, Canva, WhatsApp Business, Microsoft 365. No rip-and-replace. No six-month IT project.

There has never been a better time to be a business owner. The big-company advantage just became affordable.

If you're curious what this looks like for your specific business, that's exactly what the AI Audit we run at Ringarc is for: we sit with you, look at how work actually flows through your company, and show you — concretely — where hours can become minutes. No jargon, no obligation.
